Ciao Bella! Ah, romantic Italy, where you can find an endless supply of wine, pasta, blood oranges, fashionistas and my favorite: gelato. There are many xoxo opportunities awaiting in Italy: in front of the Trevi Fountain in Rome, on a winery tour in Tuscany, or on the Bridge of Sighs in Venice. Hell, even on the balcony in your hotel room!
Joe and I went to Italy a few years back and since then, Italy has been on the top of our list of Romantic Destinations. Granted, Italy is very expensive, and it would be ideal to book an all inclusive Italy package. (I’m honestly ashamed to admit how much money we spent on our mini-cation.) Even so, falling in love with this country isn’t hard when you’re surrounded by Michelangelo’s sculptures and paintings, Leonardo da Vinci’s treasures and a sexy language.
This year, we’re thinking of planning a trip to Venice for some serious xoxos and while I’ve read many “touristy” bits and “disappointments” through various travel blogs about this city of love, I can’t help but want to experience Venice by going on a gondola ride, feeding the pigeons, taking in artwork and you guessed it: wearing a Venetian mask. For me, Venice is the “Crème de la Crème,” the place where you fall in love with both your honey and with a city. There’s a great quote by Marcel Proust that states, “When I went to Venice, my dream became my home.” So, if we end up going to Venice and you don’t hear from us for awhile, you’ll know where to find us.
